Pregnancy and Chiropractic Care – Abstracts

I have had the pleasure of treating many pregnant women in my office over the years.  I personally have had some very good results and to my knowledge no one was made worse.  Once again I have been surprised at the number of studies that have been performed on pregnancy and chiropractic care.  Here are some of them….

This is the newest article from April 2014 which shows a great response to chiropractic treatment for pregnant patients with lower back pain.

This article was written by DC’s but was published in the Canadian Family Physician

This states that women who saw a midwife were more likely to refer to a chiropractor.

This is one of my favorites because it was published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Also it seems that these studies comparing chiropractic and medical care to medical care alone all show that when the professions work together with the patients they get better results.

This one showed and average of 83% improvement in pregnancy related lumbar pain.

This suggest that clinician need to consider chiropractic spinal manipulation in the treatment of lower back of pregnant women

This last one is a survey which resulted in low response rate which can indicate bias but it demonstrates the Webster Technique for breech birth.

There is not much research in general of pregnancy and lower back pain probably because they are limited on what medication that they can take.  Sadly I doubt many Ob/Gyn are familiar with the above named research.
