Summary: In a meta-analysis of 5 randomized controlled trials published between 2002 and 2010 involving healthy adult subjects who received supplementation with betaine at a minimum dose of 4 g/d, for a period of 6 to 24 weeks, supplementation with at least 4 g/d of betaine for a minimum of 6 weeks was found to reduce plasma homocysteine levels.
